Personality of the ‘Egara’ and Types of Manga Drawing Materials
When creating manga or anime drawings, students can creatively express their characters’ facial parts by omitting actual shapes or distorting their drawings for emphasis. The difference in distortion from the original picture in the form of lines drawn and arrangement creates an individual Egara. In this lesson, students will learn to create their own Egara by choosing their lines well. For example, thin and weak lines are commonly used for girls’ comic style while thick and strong lines are used for boys’ comic style. Different lines and manga art styles will evoke different impressions. In this lesson, students will learn to select appropriate manga drawing tools such as pens, rulers and papers that best express their manga drawing styles.
